After sweeping the Langley Warriors 2-0 in the best-of-three quarter-final, the Victoria Wolves were eliminated from the 2019 playoffs by the Ladner Pioneers 3-0 in the best-of-five semi-final. The Wolves dropped Game 1 of our semi-final series to the Pioneers 10-4 Tuesday evening in Ladner in a match that saw the team fall behind 8-0 and never fully recover. Jordan Cunningham and Nick Preston each had a goal and assist to lead scorers, while Brandon Mulligan stopped 34 of 44 shots in the Victoria net. Wednesday evening on home floor, the result was 11-6 for the Pioneers in a match that saw the Wolves fall behind 8-1 before mounting a comeback but again coming up short. Ethan Garland (3G, 2A) led the attack with Mulligan turning aside 44 of 55 shots.
Saturday evening in Ladner, the Wolves trailed 3-2 after 20 minutes, then got torched with 11 unanswered goals in the middle stanza en route to an 18-4 defeat. Garland and Preston each had a goal and an assist to head up the attack, with Mulligan and Connor Woroniuk combining to stop 51 of 69 shots.
