Week 5 Wrap-Up
Week 5 of the 2025 WCSLA regular season had 5 matches.
Reigning champion Pioneers hosted New Westminster Thursday night at Ladner Leisure Centre and came away with a 7-3 victory. Both goalies were hot, with the Salmonbellies' Ryder Bremner stopping 64 of 71 shots and Ladner's Matt Hills stopping 35 of 38 shots. Spencer Bromley (3G, 0A) was the top scorer.
Friday night at Frank Crane Arena, the host Timbermen took a 4-1 lead after one period and rode it to a 9-7 win over the Pioneers (6-2). Luke Ory (0G, 4A) led scorers while Pete Dubenski stopped 51 of 58 shots faced. The second game Friday had North Shore overcome a 2 goal deficit after 40 minutes to defeat Coquitlam 10-9 at Harry Jerome Rec Centre. The Bandits' Thomas Moffat (1G, 4A) led scoring, while Lee Jackman got the win in net, stopping 49 of 58 shots.
Sunday afternoon, the Timbermen improved to 6-2 on the season with a 7-3 win over the 'Bellies (0-5-1) at Queen's Park Arena. Seven different players led scoring with 2 points each and Dubenski turned aside 41 of 44 shots for his 4th win in 2025. The late game Sunday saw the Shamrocks move in to first place with a 10-5 win over the Bandits (4-6) at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex. After giving up the first goal of the game, the Shamrocks (6-1) never trailed on the strength of Jackson Boyd (3G, 4A) and Adam Bland (36 saves on 41 shots).
After five weeks of play, Victoria's Jackson Boyd leads with 19 goals and 34 points, while Victoria's Rylee Marsh leads with 28 assists. Ladner's Alex Buque leads in save percentage (0.886) and goals against average (5.25).
