Regular Season Done, First Rounds of Playoffs Set

The 2023 West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association Playoffs start Saturday July 15th when the Victoria Shamrocks host their island counterparts Nanaimo Timbermen in a best-of-five semi-final. The best-of-three quarter-final series to see who moves on to the second semi-final to face the Ladner Pioneers kicks off Monday July 17th with the North Shore Indians hosting the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

The final week of the regular season featured two games. The Timbermen hosted the Shamrocks Wednesday and dropped an 11-9 decision. The T-men were up 8-4 heading into the final frame, but the Rocks rallied with 5 unanswered goals to take the lead with 8:25 left and hung on the rest of the way. Nanaimo’s Jake Mickelson lead scorers (4G,3A) with Victoria’s Colin Jeffrey stopping 32 of 41 shots for the win. Thursday night in Ladner, the Pioneers overwhelmed the Indians 20-3. The hosts built up a 15-0 lead by the midway point in the game, led by Spencer Bromley (3G,5A) and Tyler Pace (2G,6A). Christian Del Bianco stopped 27 of 30 shots for his league high 9th win.
