The 2026 West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association season got underway Sunday May 10th with the visiting North Shore Indians spoiling the home opener for the Coquitlam Bandits with a 12-6 victory. The Indians never trailed, holding a 3-2 and 7-4 lead after 20 and 40 minutes respectively. North Shore's Jacob Dunbar had a monster outing with 5 goals and 6 assists, while Lee Jackman held fort in net turning aside 48 of 54 shots for the win.
Thursday May 14th, the host Ladner Pioneers edged the Nanaimo Timbermen 8-7. The game was tied at 1 heading into the first intermission before the Pioneers exploded in the middle stanza, outscoring the T-men 6-2. The final frame belonged to Naniamo, outscoring Ladner 4-1 but coming up just short in the end. Ladner's Coady Adamson led scoring with 4 goals and 1 assists. Nanaimo's Peter Dubenski was great, stopping 58 of 66 shots in a losing cause, while the Pioneers' Matt Hills blocked 38 of 45 shots faced.
Week 2 has four matches: the New Westminster Salmonbellies host the Indians Wednesday May 20th at Queen's Park Arena with the Indians hosting the Pioneers Friday May 22nd at Harry Jerome Rec Centre. Both games face-off at 8:00pm. Saturday, May 23rd, the Bandits visit the Timbermen at Nanaimo Ice Centre and then host the 'Bellies Sunday May 24th at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex. Both games face-off at 5:30pm.
