Ladner Pioneers are 2024 National Champions!

by Frank Geyer

Congratulations to the host and BC Champion Ladner Pioneers for winning the Gold Medal Saturday at the 2024 Presidents Cup National Men’s Senior B Lacrosse Championship. The Pioneers avenged a loss to the Edmonton Miners of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League earlier in the tournament by beating the Minors 9-2 in front of sold-out crowd at the Ladner Leisure Centre. Ladner jumped out to 4-0 lead and never looked back thanks to a stellar effort by Christian Del Bianco in goal who stopped 44 of 46 shots and was named Tournament MVP.

The Miners outshot the Pioneers 46-42. Ladner's Tyler Pace, who was the top point producer in the WCSLA, had 3 goals and 4 assists to lead all scorers in the game.

It is the Pioneers' third straight Presidents Cup win, a feat last accomplished by the Miners when they were based in St. Albert 2016, 2017 and 2018.

A huge shoutout to John Burr and his tournament organizing committee for putting on a great event!
