Pioneers at 2025 Presidents Cup
The Ladner Pioneers will not four-peat at the 2025 Presidents Cup National Senior B Lacrosse tournament in Whitby, Ontario.
They opened the round-robin with an 11-5 win over the Winnipeg Blizzard Sunday August 24. Ladner led 4-0 and 10-1 after 20 and 40 minutes respectively. Erik Forsselius led scoring with 4 goals and 2 assists, with Alex Buque stopping 16 of 21 shots in net. Tuesday evening, despite leading 4-3 heading into the first intermission, the Pioneers dropped a 9-7 decision to the host Brooklin Merchants. Keegan Bell had 4 goals and 1 assists, and Buque stopped 46 of 55 shots in the loss.
Tuesday afternoon, the Pioneers lost 13-6 to the Allegany Arrows to finish the round-robin at 1-2. Keegan Kozack (2G, 2A) was the top Ladner scorer while Buque and Matt Hills-Miron combined to stop 47 of 60 shots. Wednesday afternoon in the crossover match, Ladner fell out of medal contention with an 11-6 loss to the Six Nations Rivermen. Spencer Bromley (2G, 3A) led Pioneers scoring with Buque stopping 35 of 46 shots.
The Pioneers wrapped up 6th place on Thursday with a 9-6 win over Winnipeg. Bromley (1G, 4A) led the attack, while Hills-Miron stopped 37 of 43 shots.
