Pioneers Champions Again
For the fifth straight season, the Ladner Pioneers are provincial champions.
Ladner sealed the deal Saturday night at home with an 8-4 win over the Victoria Shamrocks and win the final series 3-0. The game was tight with the hosts leading by one after 20 and 40 minutes and the game tied at 4 early in the final frame, before two goals in a span of 6 seconds from Brayden Bushnoe and Coady Adamson, coupled with a pair of late short handed goals gave Ladner the series win and a trip to the Presidents Cup in Whitby, Ontario August 24-30. Bushnoe led scoring with 2 goals and 1 assist with Alex Buque turning aside 41 of 45 shots.
Adamson swept all playoff offensive categories with goals (9), assists (12) and total points (21) while Buque had the top save percentage (88.8%), goals against average (5.43) and wins (6) in goal.
