Pioneers Rebound Over Muskies

Smarting from their first loss of the tournament the night before, the Ladner Pioneers edged the Snake Island Muskies of the TNSLL 9-8 Thursday at the Presidents Cup. The Pioneers trailed 4-3 after 40 minutes but opened up offensively in the third period to outscore the Muskies 6-4 to steal the victory and improve to 5-1. Ladner was outshot 50-43 but all-star netminder Christian Del Bianco once again stood large in securing the win. Tyler Pace (2G, 4A) led the way, including the game winning goal, with Austin Shanks also picking up a pair of goals and Zach Herreweyers, Phil Caputo, Ryan Keith, Sam Clare and Nick Jensen adding singles.

Despite finishing tied in points, due to the fact Ladner lost to Oakville, also at 5-1, the Pioneers finish the round-robin in 2nd place and will face the 3rd place Muskies again in a semi-final Friday at noon PDT.
