Playoffs Week 1 Wrap-Up

The 2026 WCSLA playoffs are underway!

Game 1 of the best-of-5 semi-final between long time rivals Ladner Pioneers and Nanaimo Timbermen went Tuesday July 21st at the Ladner Leisure Centre with the defending Provincial Champions winning 22-3. The Pioneers led 6-1 and 16-2 after one and two periods, with Haiden Dickson leading all scorers with 8 goals and 1 assist. Keegan Okino stopped 41 of 44 shots, while in the Nanaimo net, Peter Dubenski stopped 63 of 83 shots. Game 2 took place Thursday July 23rd at Frank Crane Arena, with Ladner taking a 2-0 series lead with a 15-8 victory. The Pioneers never trailed in the contest and were led by Mitch Jones (5G, 2A). Okino was back in net, turning aside 39 of 47 shots.

Game 1 of the best-of-5 semi-final between the North Shore Indians and Coquitlam Bandits happened Friday July 24th at Harry Jerome Community Rec Centre with the Indians prevailing 13-8. The Bandits jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the hosts responded with 7 unanswered goals and never trailed from that point forward. Coquitlam held a 47-45 advantage in shots, with North Shore’s Lee Jackman making 39 saves for the W. Jacob Dunbar (2G, 5A) topped all scorers. Game 2 took place Sunday July 26th at the Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex, with the Indians taking a 2-0 series lead with a 14-4 victory. North Shore, who outshot the hosts 67-43, jumped out to a 10-0 lead midway through the contest and held off Coquitlam the rest of the way. Dunbar (4G, 4A) and Adam Charalambides (2G, 6A) led the charge, while Jackman held down the fort, stopping 39 shots.

After one week of playoff action, the Indians' Dunbar leads in points (15) while Charalambides leads in assists. The Pioneers' Dickson leads in goals (11), with Okino leading in goalie stats (0.879 save %, 5.50 GAA).
