Timbermen Force Game 5, Pioneers Take Game 1

The Timbermen forced a 5th and deciding game in their best-of-5 semi-final with the Shamrocks by defeating their island rivals 9-4 Tuesday night in Nanaimo. The hosts never trailed in the contest after Cody Clark opened the scoring less than a minute in. Andrew Miller (3G, 1A), Joe Fendick (3G, 1A) and Doug Langlois (1G, 3A) led scorers, with Nick Patterson returning to the net to stop 33 of 37 shots. Game 5 goes Thursday in Victoria.

In the second semi-final opener Tuesday night, the defending champion Pioneers dispatched the Indians 19-6 in Ladner. Tyler Pace opening the scoring 23 seconds in and the Pioneers never trailed from that point on, including a 10 goal outburst in the second period. Spencer Bromley erupted for 6 goals and added 4 assists to lead the attack, while Christian Del Bianco stopped 33 of 39 shots for the win. Game 2 is set for Thursday on the North Shore.
