Week 1 Results

The 2023 WCSLA season got underway with four games the weekend of May 12-14.

Friday night on the North Shore, the Indians opened the season with a 13-5 victory over New Westminster. Drew Kask led all scorers with 5 goals and 2 assists, with RIku Joluka stopping 35 off 40 shots for the hosts. Saturday night in Nanaimo, Victoria spoiled the return of Senior B lacrosse to the hub city with a 9-6 win over the Timbermen. Tyler Mace pocketed 2 goals and 4 assists with Charles Claxton turning aside 32 of 38 shots for the victors.

Sunday featured a pair of matches, with the visiting Timbermen bouncing back for a 10-5 result over the Indians in the matinee game. Doug Langlois led the way with 2 goals and 4 helpers and Jeremy Funk stopped 34 of 39 shots. The late afternoon affair had the Shamrocks remaining undefeated with a 15-2 home floor rout of the Salmonbellies. Steve Higgs notched 3 goals and 4 assists and Cody Cook blocked 23 of 25 shots faced.

Week 2 has only one contest, with the Provincial and National Champion Ladner Pioneers travelling to the island to hook up with longtime rivals Nanaimo Timbermen Wednesday night.
