Week 2 Wrap-Up

Week 2 featured a full slate of games.

Wednesday night in Nanaimo, the visiting Victoria Shamrocks spoiled the Timbermen’s home opener with a 10-7 victory. The teams were tied at 3 after 20 minutes, but the Shamrocks had a big second period out scoring the hosts 5-2 and then held down the fort for the win. Adam Golia (2G, 1A), Parker Johnson (1G, 2A) and Tyler Mace (3A) led scoring for the Rocks, with Colin Jeffrey stopping 39 of 46 shots in net.

Thursday night, the reigning champion Ladner Pioneers fell behind early and then rattled off 28 unanswered goals in a 28-1 rout of the visiting New Westminster Salmonbellies. The Pioneers outshot the undermanned visitors 103-28, with goalie Christian Del Bianco turning aside 27 shots in the Ladner net and Troy Cuzzetto stopping 75 shots in the New West net. Tyler Pace led scorers with 3 goals and 7 assists, while Coady Adamson notched 5 goals and Dylan Lacroix added 4 tallies for the hosts.

The North Shore Indians welcomed the Pioneers to Harry Jerome Rec Centre Friday night, and despite hanging in during the early stages of the match, were bested 24-6. Pace (3G, 6A) again led scoring, with Spencer Bromley (3G, 5A) and Lacroix (6G, 1A) right behind. Matt Hills stopped 19 of 25 shots for Ladner, who outshot the Indians 75-25.

The Shamrocks faced the ‘Bellies Saturday afternoon at White Rock Centennial Arena to round out the week’s action and left with a 14-2 decision. Connor Leies (3G, 3A) topped scoring, with Cody Cook returning to the ‘Rocks net and turning aside 23 of 25 shots.

After two weeks of action, Ladner's Tyler Pace leads scoring with 19 points and assists with 13, Ladner's Dylan Lacroix leads with 10 goals, and the Pioneers' Christian Del Bianco leading in save percentage (0.964) and goals against average (1.00).
