Week 3 Wrap Up

Week 3 of the 2026 West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association season featured five matches, starting Wednesday May 27th with the Ladner Pioneers originally scheduled to visit the New Westminster Salmonbellies at Queen's Park Arena but the game being cancelled and the Pioneers awarded the two points.

The Pioneers then hosted the North Shore Indians Thursday May 28th at Ladner Leisure Centre and came away with an 18-11 victory to remain undefeated on the season. The hosts jumped out to a 7-3 lead after 20 minutes only to have the visitors respond in the second period to make the contest 10-9. The "tilted floor" was apparent in the third as the Pioneers outscored the Indians 8-2 to seal their 4th win of the season. Ladner's Mitch Jones had a huge night with 6 goals and 5 assists while Zach Richards, in his first start in net, stopped 42 of 53 shots.

The Indians returned home to face the Coquitlam Bandits the next night at Harry Jerome Rec Centre and defeated the Bandits 11-8. Coquitlam held leads of 4-1 and 6-3 at the intermissions, but North Shore had a monster final frame scoring 8 goals while surrendering only 2 en route to their 3rd win of the season. The Indians' Adam Charalambides led scoring (3G, 3A) with Lee Jackman holding fort in net, stopping 36 of 44 shots.

The Salmonbellies travelled to the island to face the Timbermen at the Nanaimo Ice Centre Saturday May 30th and left with a 24-4 defeat. The T-men never trailed, leading 9-1 and 18-3 after 20 and 40 minutes. Andrew Miller (4G, 7A) and Jake Mickelson (6G, 4A) led the attack while Peter Dubenski turned aside 26 of 30 shots faced for his first win of the season.

The week concluded with the Bandits hosting the Pioneers at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex Sunday May 31st, with the Pioneers coming out on top 13-7. Ladner never trailed in the contest and ended up outshooting Coquitlam 61-53. Zach Richards was back between the pipes and had another good outing, stopping 46 shots. Mitch Jones was top scorer with 1 goal and 7 assists.
