Week 5 Wrap-Up

Week 5 in the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association has 4 matches.

Thursday night, the New Westminster Salmonbellies dropped their seventh straight to the undefeated Pioneers 17-3 at the Ladner Leisure Centre. Ladner’s Matt Hills was between the pipes, stopping 18 of 21 shots, while Mark Yingling led scoring with 1 goal and 5 assists and Ryan Keith hit the twine 4 times.

Friday night, the 3-3-0 Nanaimo Timbermen visited the 2-3-0 North Shore Indians at the Harry Jerome Rec Centre and came away with a 10-7 victory. The game was tied at 3 after 20 minutes and tied at 6 entering the final frame, which had the visitors, led by Grady Holmes and Doug Langlois each with 4 goals, take charge and win their third straight. Pete Dubenski stopped 48 of 55 shots for his 3rd win of the season.

Sunday afternoon, the Indians faced the 3-3-0 Shamrocks at The Q Centre in Victoria and dropped their third straight by a score of 15-6. The Shamrocks, led by Parker Johnson (5G,3A)  jumped out to an 8-2 lead after the opening frame and cruised to a win that kept pace with Nanaimo in the standings. Colin Jeffrey returned to the Victoria net and stopped 41 of 47 shots for his second victory of the season.

The scheduled game between the Timbermen and the Salmonbellies at Queen’s Park Arena has been postponed.

After five weeks of play, Ladner's Tyler Pace continues to lead scoring with 41 points and assists with 29, Ladner's Haiden Dickson leads with 16 goals, and the Pioneers' Christian Del Bianco continues to lead in save percentage (0.876) and goals against average (4.96).
