Week 8 Wrap-Up

After taking the Canada Day long weekend off, the WCSLA is back with a full state of games for Week 8.

Tuesday evening, the Ladner Pioneers made it 12 straight wins with a 17-8 win over the Indians on the North Shore. Tyler Pace (4G,3A) and Spencer Bromley (3G,4A) led scoring, while Matt Hills stopped 38 of 46 shots.

Wednesday night, the Indians were in New Westminster and handed the Salmonbellies their 11th straight loss 16-4. North Shore led in shots 64-34, with Clayton Hetman stopping 30 in the net. Eli Batt (1G,3A) led scoring, with Austin Nix getting a hat-trick.

Friday night the Pioneers travelled to Nanaimo and took a 17-6 decision over the Timbermen. Pace (2G,7A) led all scorers and Christian Del Bianco returned to the net and stopped 21 of 27 shots.

Saturday afternoon, the Shamrocks visited the Indians and erased a 2 goal deficit midway through the match en route to a 10-6 victory. Nolan Morrison and Brodie Wade each had 2 goals and 1 assist to lead the Victoria attack, with Cody Cook back in net to stop 48 of 54 shots for his 4th win of the season. The late game had an undermanned Salmonbellies squad in Nanaimo and the host Timbermen came out on top 12-2. Pete Dubenski stopped 25 of 27 shots and Grady Holmes (4G,2A) and Jake Herrington (3G,3A) led scorers.

Sunday afternoon, the Pioneers finished their island swing in Victoria with a 12-8 win over the Shamrocks. Ladner jumped out to a 6-1 lead after 20 minutes only to have the hosts claw back to make it 10-7 heading into the second intermission. Both teams ended up with 53 shots on goal, with Del Bianco stopping 45 for the win. Haiden Dickson (2G,5A) led scoring.

After eight weeks of play, Ladner's Tyler Pace continues to lead scoring with 90 points and 61 assists, Ladner's Haiden Dickson leads with 39 goals, and the Pioneers' Christian Del Bianco continues to lead in save percentage (0.876) and goals against average (4.91).
