Week 9 Wrap-Up

Week 9 was the second-to-last of the regular season and featured six games. Victoria visited Nanaimo Tuesday evening and came away with an 11-5 victory to pull into a tie for second place with the Timbermen. Brodie Wade (3G,4A) led scoring with Colin Jeffrey stopping 36 of 41 shots for his third win.

Ladner was at New Westminster Wednesday night and handed the Salmonbellies their 14th straight loss 24-3. Mitch Jones had a monster outing with 7 goals and 8 assists, while Matt Hills and Zac Boychuk combined to stop 16 of 19 shots.

Nanaimo travelled to Ladner Thursday evening and left with a 18-2 loss. The Pioneers finished the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record and were led by Tyler Pace (1G,7A) and James Rahe (4G,3A) in the final game, with Christian Del Bianco stopping 34 of 36 shots for his league leading 10th win.

Saturday has pair of afternoon games. The Shamrocks were at Queen's Park Arena to face the Salmonbellies and left with a 10-1 win, clinching 2nd place in the league standings. Connor Leies (3G), Brodie Wade (1G,2A) and James Spence (1G,2A) led Victoria scoring and Cody Cook stopped 23 of 24 shots for his 4th win.

The later match had the Timbermen at Harry Jerome Rec Centre to tangle with the Indians, with North Shore winning 11-9. Jayden Reschny (3G,1A), Efrain Barreto (2G,2A) and Person Willis (2G,2A) led the attack, while Lee Jackman held down the fort, stopping 36 of 45 shots.

The week wrapped up Sunday afternoon with Victoria hosting North Shore and coming back from two goals down midway through the contest and taking third straight win 11-7. The Shamrocks were led by Parker Johnson and Jackson Boyd, each with 2 goals and 2 assists, with Cody Cook turning away 42 of 49 shots in net.

After nine weeks of play, Ladner's Tyler Pace continues to lead scoring with 110 points and 77 assists, Ladner's Haiden Dickson leads with 47 goals, and the Pioneers' Christian Del Bianco continues to lead in save percentage (0.882) and goals against average (4.62).

The final week of the regular season has only one game - the Shamrocks at the Indians Saturday at 4:30pm.
