Week 9 Wrap-Up
Week 9 of the 2026 West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association season featured three matches, starting Thursday July 9th when the Pioneers hosted the Coquitlam Bandits at the Ladner Leisure Centre and squeaked out a 6-5 victory to improve to 12-0-0 on the season. The Bandits led 2-0 after 20 minutes, but the Pioneers responded with 5 unanswered goals in the second period. Coquitlam made things interesting with 3 straight markers to tie the game at 5 with 6 minutes left before Haiden Dickson, with his 25 goal of the season, gave Ladner the lead a minute later which proved to be the game winner. The Bandits' Randy Jones (1G, 3A) led scoring while Connor Nichols, in a losing effort, stopped 64 of 70 shots. The Pioneers' Keegan Okino won his second game of the season stopping 35 of 40 shots.
Friday July 10th, the second place North Shore Indians travelled to the island to face the fourth place Nanaimo Timbermen at Frank Crane Arena and returned with a thrid straight win, 11-3. Jacob Dunbar had a huge night with six goals and 2 assists while Adam Charalambides pitched in one goal and six assists including the game winner midway through the contest. Lee Jackman returned to the net and was solid, turnign aside 40 of 43 shots.
The week wrapped up Sunday July 12th when the Timbermen dropped their fourth straight 7-6 to the Bandits at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex. The game was a see-saw affair with Coquitlam taking the lead 4 times and Nanaimo once with the game tied 4 different times before Chase Hanson scored the winning tally shorthanded with 12 minutes left to secure the win for the Bandits, who now sit at 6-6-0 on the season. Jake Mickelson of the T-man was top points getter with 2 goals and 2 assists with Peter Dubenski stopping 55 of 62 shots. Alex Buque was back in net for the Bandits, stopping 38 of 44 shots.
After 9 weeks, North Shore's Jacob Dunbare has taken the league lead in points with 64 points and goals with 37, while Ladner’s Ryan Jones leads with 36 goals.
