Week 2 Wrap-Up
Week 2 of the 2025 WCSLA regular season featured five matches.
Wednesday night, the Salmonbellies hosted North Shore at Queen's Park Arena and dropped a 14-4 decision. The Indians jumped out to an 8-1 lead and cruised to their first victory in 2025 led by Stuart Ahara (2G, 2A) and Jordan Gabrielle (1G, 3A) with Roku Jokela stopping 34 of 38 shots in net.
Friday evening, the Indians hosted Nanaimo at Harry Jerome Rec Centre with the visitors notching their first win of the season by the score of 13-2. Geordie Walls-Good (3G, 2A) and West Cateaux (2G, 3A) topped all scorers and Pete Dubenski held fort stopping 36 of 38 shots in the Timbermen.
Saturday afternoon, the Pioneers hosted Victoria at Ladner Leisure Centre and handed the Shamrocks their first loss of the young season by a count of 9-6. Ladner built up a 6-1 lead by the midway point in the contest and fended off the visitors the rest of the way for their second win. Coady Adamson led the attack with 2 goals and 3 assists while Alex Buque stopped 40 of 46 shots faced.
Sunday's pair of afternoon matches started with the Shamrocks hosting New Westminster at The Q Centre, with the hosts prevailing 23-4. The Salmonbellies (0-4) kept it relatively close in the first period, trailing 7-3 at the break, but Victoria (3-1) took charge the rest of the way, outscoring the visitors 16-1. Rylee Marsh led scoring with 1 goal and 8 assists with OneniotekÓ:Wa Maracle notching 5 goals. Adam Bland and Darian Claxton combined to stop 34 of 37 shots.
The week wrapped up with the Bandits hosting the Timbermen at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex, with Nanaimo having a perfect weekend with an 11-7 win. The teams were tied at 5 heading into the final frame before the T-men (2-1) took charge and outscored Coquitlam (2-2) 6-2 to take the game. Grady Holmes (1G, 3A) was top scorer and Dubenski stopped 54 of 61 shots in net.
After two weeks of play, Victoria's Rylee Marsh leads with 24 points and 21 assists, with Victoria's Jackson Boyd leading with 14 goals. Coquitlam's Connor Nichols leads in save percentage (0.887) and Victoria’s Colin Jeffrey leads in goals against average (5.96).
